Andy Roddick is an Texas born retired American tennis player often called as “A- Rod” born in August 30th 1982 in Omaha Nebraska to Jerry and Blanche Roddick. He is 6 ft 2 inch tall and 30 years old. Roddick was named the top-ranked junior tennis player in the world at the age of 18. He became Grand slam single champion after defeating Juan Carlos Ferrero in final at the 2003 US open. Later that year he became NO 1 in the world, who was among one the few American to hold both the Grand Slam and Worlds NO 1 ranking in the same year. And Currently he is the last North American male player to win a Grand Slam singles event. He reached to four other Grand Slam finals but was defeated by Roger Federer. On August 30th  2012 during the 2012 US open and his 30th birthday he announced his plan to retire after losing fourth round to Argentina Martin Del Potro.
Often called as “A-Rod” , Roddick lived in Austin Texas, from age 4 until he was 11 and then moved to Boca Raton, Florida in the interest of his brother tennis career. A a junior competitor he won six world singles and seven double titles. In 2000, he was named the top ranked junior player in United States and the world and turned pro that same year. Roddick have enjoyed a successful early  career. He won three tournaments including the Legg Mason Tennis Classic in Washington, D.C., in 2001. Also in 2003 he was named by the Association of Tennis Professional as “Player of the Year”.
The turning point of his career began when he won his first Grand Slam Tournament title in 2003 and became among the few Americans to be ranked in Worlds No 1in the same year. Later in 2007 he won the two single tournament. That same year he beat the record for the number of consecutive tie-break won at the ATP World tour, claiming his 18th consecutive tie break victory at the tournament. In 2007 Roddick was ranked fifth by ATP. Roddik hired a new coach in 2009 Larry Stefanky. After failing to make it final round in Australian Open, French Open and ATP World Tour he finally made to the Wimbledon that year but lost with rival Roger Federer. In August 2012 he plans to retire from tennis career.
